Where to Stay Near Mo Paeng Waterfall, Pai

By BestHotelPai Team · Updated July 3, 2026

In short

Mo Paeng is a popular three-tier waterfall about 10 km southwest of Pai. The closest stays are the rice-field properties on the south side of Pai — Paddy Fields Haven and Camp View Mountain — with Eden Villa a short ride away. Stay south and you can reach the falls, the canyon and the hot springs all from one base.

About Mo Paeng Waterfall

Mo Paeng is one of Pai's two popular falls — three tiers you can climb and small pools you can cool off in. There's a small entry fee and a short walk in from the car park. It runs fullest in the green season.

It's southwest of town, close to the canyon and the hot springs, so it's an easy stop on a south-Pai loop.

When the falls are at their best

Mo Paeng runs fullest in the green season, when the rains feed the three tiers and the pools at the base are deep enough for a proper cool-off. That's the season the waterfall is genuinely at its best — and when the rice fields around the south-side stays are at their greenest too.

In the dry months the flow is gentler and the rock tiers are easier to climb; it's a quieter, mellower stop. Either way there's a small entry fee and a short walk in from the car park, so bring a little cash and shoes you can scramble in.

Getting there and making a day of it

The falls are about 10 km southwest of town — a 15–20 minute scooter ride, shorter from the south-side stays. If you'd rather not ride, a songthaew taxi can take you out and wait; agree the return before you set off.

Mo Paeng shares its side of the valley with Pai Canyon and the hot springs, so the classic day runs: waterfall in the heat of the afternoon, a soak at the springs, then sunset at the canyon. Ask us on WhatsApp and we'll map the loop from your room.

Why the rice-field stays win here

Paddy Fields Haven and Camp View Mountain aren't just the closest roofs to the waterfall — they're the natural base for everything on this side of Pai: the falls, the canyon and the springs all sit within a short ride, with town only a few minutes further.

Eden Villa adds a private two-bedroom option a short ride toward town, if you want garden space and privacy over the rice-field setting. All three are owner-run and bookable direct, up to 10% under Booking.com.
